"I asked God to give me a sign by intervening at court. I was about to stop standing because of how painful it is to wait. God showed me it is in His timing not mine. All we had to do was sign the papers and we would be divorced. My husband could have been divorced, but he slowed the process." (California)
"My husband and I were not on speaking terms. He called me to remind me of our son's upcoming birthday and we ended up making plans for the birthday together. We did the birthday and my prodigal was around the whole time and helping with the guests. I thank the Lord. My faith is strengthened that the Lord will bring my prodigal home." (Tanzania)
"I thought that my marriage was over when (husband) announced that he would be moving to another state with that other person. It was one of the worst times in my life and that of the children. As it turned out, God had it all planned out and has given us more and far better than we ever imagined. I am delighted to announce that my husband has gone to church with us and we began counseling together with a Christian counselor and are on our way to getting back together. We will be taking our first camping trip together since this whole thing began. He has also joined a men's group. This is far beyond anything I ever imagined or asked for. He went to church before, but did not really have a relationship with God. Thank you for contributing to my family being put back together." (California)
"I had a dream that I was walking in a field and there was a row of men working and planting crops. I realized that I have been sowing seed in my marriage and into my husband by praying, standing, believing and speaking. You reap what you sow and my harvest is on the way and my husband is in it. Praise God." (Georgia)
"God restored my marriage after a four month battle. My husband had said he wanted a divorce and was seeing another woman. I clung to the verse in James which says that if we come to God in confidence asking anything according to His will, we will have the very things that we ask for. Divorce is not God's will. I encourage all the standers to cling to this verse as God is faithful to His word." (Florida)
"Our wedding anniversary is this month. I was able to take the initiative to invite my husband to watch a movie with me, and he accepted. He spent a number of hours this week putting together new beds for our sons. We will be spending the holidays together though we remain separated." (California)
“My husband came home this past Sunday. Although I have been saved for a year, I was still not walking in love, but still trying to find ways to manipulate my husband. I am seeing my husband the way that God sees him. For the longest time, I thought I was the only person in the world who was standing.” (California)
"Thank you for "Charlyne Cares." I can't wait to read it every day. I look up all the scriptures. My faith in God has grown tremendously even with possible divorce. Please continue to shine the light of truth in a dark world. God has softened my husband's heart and he has given me much needed funds for school clothes. God is able." (Connecticut)
"After many years of silence, my husband called me this week and then came to see me. He was repentant about the past and wants to come to see me again. God is moving him closer to Himself and to home. Even when I couldn't see anything, God was working. He is faithful." (North Carolina)

"Thank you for teaching me how to stand and not give up. My husband left a few years ago. Recently my mother-in-law told me I needed to get some dignity and give up on my marriage. She said that she wished that she could come and shake all the hope out of me, because my husband was going to marry the other woman. Something inside of me was saying not to listen to her. Since then, my husband took me and our children shopping and told me that he was not planning on marrying and that he has not filed for divorce. I am believing God for restoration." (Maryland)
"I give glory to God. My husband and I had a deep conversation. He apologized for all the things he did to me. We have love for each other, but the devil tries to tear us apart. God is good and I love Him so much." (Arizona)
"My final court date was to be today. It was rescheduled. God has given me another month to show my wife that I don't want a divorce. I have written an apology letter to my wife. God has been good to me. I pray for His Spirit to continue to guide me." (New Jersey)
"Thank you, Bob, for your insight on what a prodigal needs. Mine recently had his car broken into and his favorite sandals stolen. I went online and found them discounted. Last night when I gave them to him, he cried and hugged me. I have been praying that God would soften my husband’s heart toward me and that was confirmation that God is indeed working, praise God." (Oregon)
"My husband and I have been separated for several years. I did not hear from him for a long time. Not long ago, as our anniversary approached, I asked the Lord to show me that my husband still thinks about me. A day before the anniversary, my husband contacted me looking for a way to help me financially. I thanked the Lord and told my husband I will always love him." (Canada)
"Tomorrow I am leaving this place to begin the journey to reach my husband who is working far away. I told the Lord that if He would turn my husband’s heart to want his family together, I would go wherever that meant. Little did I know it would be on the other side of the world. Praise God for what He is doing and His great love towards us." (Virginia)
“My husband came home suddenly on November 11. This was unexpected. I want to thank you both for your words from our Lord that kept me and is still keeping me on the path. I am continuing to pray for my husband's rededication to God. Ephesians 1:16-23 is a favorite scripture that I prayed for my husband. Our Lord is so good and awesome. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or even think according to the power that works in us. Praise the Lord for His goodness. Prodigals do come home-suddenly!” (Oklahoma)
"Recently, a friend asked me to meet with a woman who wanted advice on how to get started in my line of work. Turns out that this woman is having marriage problems, and I was able to share with her God's amazing love and healing mercy. I know that meeting her was God's plan and that a seed has been planted in her heart. God can do amazing things." (Washington)
"Earlier this year, I divorced my spouse. Last week I asked the Lord to forgive me for divorcing. I believe the Lord as He stated to me He will repair the breech. I will continue to pray for unity between us." (Michigan)
"Our Lord is never late and always on time. My finances seemed hopeless, but I continued to tithe and give God the glory and acknowledge that the Lord is in control of everything in my life. Yesterday I received a call from my boss saying that I will have full time work instead of part time. This couldn't come at a better time. My spouse lost his job last Tuesday. God knows what the needs of his children are. I wait in expectation for the return of my husband in God's timing." (Connecticut)
"I have been praying and saving a seat for my husband in church. Praise be to God he came on Thursday. Thanks for the book 'The Saved Seat.' Many of those that have been standing with me in faith also saw the results and their faith has increased. God is so good." (California)
“Praise the Lord for He is good. Even when we don't see it, He is working on the hearts of our prodigals. Mine has been calling regularly and wanting to talk to me. It is like Bob wrote in 'The Prodigals Perspective.' He is treating me as the other woman, making up reasons to get to talk to me or see me. His whole attitude is changing and I know the Lord is turning his heart of stone into a heart of flesh and I know God will accomplish what He starts and I thank Him for his restoration of our marriage.” (West Virginia)
"Praise God, He has healed my marriage. After my husband left, I was devastated, but I felt that I must seek God, not the world. It was hard some days, but God put so many people in my life that had gone thru this. I started believing that nothing was too hard for God. We are going to a Christian counselor. I know that God can do anything. Praise be to the Lord." (Texas)
"I praise the Lord that he has provided school clothes, supplies and groceries for my children. He has even allowed me to bless others." (Georgia)
"The Lord led me to pray and fast for the resurrection of our marriage. After weeks of no contact with my husband, the Lord led me to write a prayer of marriage commitment to him. He wrote back and said that he agreed with my stand for our marriage." (Florida)
"We were to go to court on Friday, but Thursday my husband's attorney wanted a continuation. I was praying for any sign of reconciliation. I believe God is working on our behalf." (Iowa)
“After praying the armor of God and quoting verses from the Bible, my husband emailed me a week ago from overseas wanting to come back. He told me that he realized what he did was wrong and asked if I could forgive him. I mentioned about renewing our vows and he said that's what he was going to ask me. He sent me another email about how much he misses us and (he) is now helping financially. There's still a lot of things that we need to work on, but God will take care of the little details for me. All I know is that my husband is coming home by God's grace and mercy. God is good.” (California)
"My husband spent a couple of hours on Christmas day with me and my family. Later he said he enjoyed being with all of us. What a blessing. Thank You, Lord." (Michigan)
"I received your June newsletter talking about taking children on vacation while standing. I prayed about being able to take them on vacation. We were able to go to Mississippi and spend July 4th on the beach. We only spent $116.00. Then my father called and asked me to fly to Denver and sing at our own family reunion. I took him up on the offer, believing this was God's answer to prayers. The girls and I were able to go sightseeing into the mountains. This trip only cost me $5.00. I came home with school clothes and supplies for my children, new hairstyles and extra money. My God is so awesome. I have to give him praise." (Georgia)
“I am standing for my marriage. Friends of mine separated a year ago. They do not believe, but I have been believing God for the restoration of their marriage and praying for them. They went in last week to sign their divorce papers and they both started crying and the divorce lawyer told them that they needed to be in counseling, not divorce court. Now they are working on their marriage. How encouraging to know that God is so good and faithful. I know my marriage will sone be restored. I have such an assurance and peace from God concerning my marriage.” (Louisiana)
"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17
"My husband has made many false starts home This past week he quit his job and will start to look for one near us so he can be home every night. I continue to stand, pray and have started to fast knowing that this is a step but by no means the end of my stand. I thank God for helping me see signs that He is working to restore my marriage and that He is working on my husband's heart." (Connecticut)
“My husband and I are back together. It happened suddenly. Praise God. The night before last my husband said that his love for me has really grown. He said that he loved me before, but he really loves me now. Last night he told me that he is so lucky to have me. There were so many times that I thought it was hopeless and wanted to give up, but the Lord would cause my husband to do something that would refill my faith. I know that this is only the beginning of a new chapter of our lives and I must continue to stand and pray for our marriage for life. Thank you Bob and Charlyne for your books, encouragement, prayers, and your ministry.” (Alabama)
"Our son graduates this year and the church was blessing the graduates. My spouse said he would come. We were about to go into church when my spouse called. We waited and walked as a family into the church that has meant so much in our lives. My spouse sat next to me with all of our friends and family witnessing. Thank You, Jesus." (Michigan)
"My husband and his second non-covenant are having serious issues involving separation and no contact order. My husband still wants that to work out but appears it will not." (Iowa)
“Going across the bridge this morning, on the way to work, it was so foggy I could barely see the lines on the road. I had to slow way down. While I was driving, I thought, this is like life and our marriage restoration. It gets so thick you can’t see a thing. You just keep going knowing the end of the bridge is there soon. You drive through the fog and think I know the end is here somewhere; I go across this bridge every day. It usually doesn’t seem this long to get across. Then the fog starts to get thinner and thinner - finally it is so clear, the windshield is cleaner than ever from having to use the defroster and wipers. As I got to the other side I thought, this is what it will be like when my family comes to God, we are all in the mist of the fog with God guiding us through to the clear side.” (Illinois) (A Bobservation - The Ohio River bridge she was crossing is pictured on the cover of our “Pulpits in the Marketplace” book. I recall the cold, foggy morning when I sloshed through mud under that bridge to get a photo of it for the cover.)
"I have been praying for salvation for my husband who has completely turned away from the Lord. Last Sunday my husband talked about God and told me that he prays. Praise the Lord. This Sunday my husband went to church with our son and he liked it very much. Praise the Lord for turning my husband's heart to Him." (Netherlands)
"My husband has been home for many months now, praise the Lord. Satan has stolen so much from us but God is restoring. One area that the devil fought us, even before our separation, is in having no children. I have had several miscarriages and a series of sicknesses. Through your ministry I have kept on learning what it means to stand and just as I stood while separated, I am still standing for my husband. I know that I can also stand in my marriage for God to bless us with children." (Zimbabwe)
"Having been where I had little or no extra money, a car that was breaking down and had to be replaced and a bankruptcy credit history, finding a car and being able to buy it was a true miracle that God supplied. Now, 2.5 years later, the Lord has allowed me to pay off that vehicle early! I could hear the pride in my prodigals voice when I told him. God has supplied all my needs and it is to Him I continue to look as my source. God has provided for me in amazing ways. The worst years of my life have been the best years; the deepest valleys have been the best pathways. I thank God that He brought me through the process that has taught me to trust Him completely and to draw close to Him." (Missouri)
"My precious husband called to see if he could come by and wash his clothes. I praise God for the beautiful time I had with my beloved. God is faithful. He does soften hearts of stone." (Georgia)
"I praise the Lord for my hubby asked our kids what they thought I would want for Christmas. After losing interest in the kids, our wonderful Lord is turning the father's heart to his covenant children again and the children's heart to their father as he is spending today with them going to the cinema, etc. The Lord is faithful." (England)
"My husband has called me almost every day since Christmas. We go and have coffee at one of the coffee shops almost every day. He said that he couldn't imagine me not in his life, but only as a friend. God has gotten (my husband) this far. I know that God can get him all the way home. Thank You, Father. Praise You, Lord." (Tennessee)
"My husband has been in the far country for months. In the last couple weeks he's become more communicative. Yesterday in an email he referred to reconciliation and the possibility of a future together. A couple weeks ago he stated he was never coming back. I see evidence of my prayers every day. I am so grateful to God for bringing Charlyne and Bob's loving support into my stand." (Wisconsin)
"Recently I encountered some major problems with my mortgage. I did not want to tell my husband, but he came over one afternoon when I was obviously upset, and I finally explained the situation. He contacted a lawyer and had the situation completely straightened out. Praise God for His provision and for using my husband as the head of the family." (Ohio)
"I have enjoyed 'The ABC's of Standing' so much. You said in the tape not to rely on (CEF) circumstances, emotions or feelings but to stand on the promises of God. I memorized those three items with the letters CEF. It helped me to combat my tendency to rely on my circumstances, emotions or feelings. Recently I saw my prodigal. The sin that's in his life is really destroying him and I never knew to what an extent before. A thought went through my mind as to whether I really wanted him in my life anymore. It truly looked impossible for him to ever come back home. He wasn't as welcoming as I had wanted. But because I remembered that you said not to rely on (CEF). I remembered that I had to stand on the promises of God and everything again looked possible." (Maryland)
"This Christmas season, being on a budget with only my income to support my family, I did not know how I was going to be able to buy presents for my children. I received an unexpected gift from a friend and I was able to buy presents for my kids and my family. Praise God." (Florida)
"I was the one that left. I have not seen (husband) in years. I had not spoken with him since last October at his request. Out of the blue he called me two months ago to just talk. He said he had thought of calling me the month before but had not. He said he started back to the church we attended. He called me again yesterday. Nothing has been said about us getting back together, however these are major steps for him." (Texas)
"I rejoice after a call from my prodigal out of the blue. We have had no contact in many months and this was the most blessed surprise. I felt the Lord lead me this year to send a Valentine box to him and I prayed that it would pour love into his heart and remind him of God's blessings. He left a voice mail message at my office knowing I would not be there but thanked me for the box and said how much he enjoyed the treats. It is answered prayer. God is faithful." (Minnesota)
“Over the last couple of weeks I have been praying for reassurance that marriage restoration is still part of God's plan for our family. After 2.5 years of separation and divorce and very little contact, my spouse invited me to have dinner with him and our daughters at his home. Thank You Lord and forgive me for being a Doubting Thomas. You are the same yesterday, today and forever.” (Missouri)
"I have been praying to God because of financial and other difficulties. My bank account was negative. God is always on time. My prodigal called me to go with him to the bank so he could remove his name from our account since he received delinquent notices. The bank said his name could not be removed because of the balance. The Holy Spirit touched my husband’s heart and he put money in the account to cover entire amount. Although his name was removed, I am still standing for my marriage." (California)
