Restored and Redeemed

Has your marriage been restored? Restored & Redeemed is a devotional for those in a restored marriage.

A New Season

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Philippians 4:4

In Florida, we have two seasons, summer and some winter, which usually lasts three weeks. That means to get in the mood for a season like Christmas, we must crank the A/C down and pretend. We are being told a cold front is coming our way, so we may get a few hours of “winter” in the next few days. I know those who are freezing right now can’t stand us.

This time of year can also be a busy season with the holidays, parties, special events, and other things demanding your time. I encourage you to consider what you can do to enjoy a memorable time with your spouse. What better time to carve out some time and do a couple of fun outings?

    • Try a new restaurant – If you are like us, date night can sometimes happen without much warning, causing us to end up at our favorite restaurant. Be purposeful about date night! Do some research and make a plan. Check on Facebook and see if your city has a community group. We have found fantastic restaurant recommendations this way.
    • Do something that aligns with the season – Again, I’m a Floridian, so going for a nice walk in the snow won’t work for us, so we have to do other things. Head out after the kids go to bed and look at Christmas lights in your city, or find a special show coming to town soon and buy tickets for a special date night.
    • Do something uncomfortable – This idea may not be uncomfortable for you, but for the introverts reading this, they may start to squirm. Find an abandoned parking lot, get out of the car, play a song on your phone, and dance with your spouse! Nobody is watching, and the thrill of dancing somewhere other than your living room will add to the sweetness of the moment.
    • Arrange a photoshoot – Do you have pictures of everyone in the family except you and your spouse? Do something about that and schedule a photoshoot. If finances are tight, you can buy a tripod and self-timer from Amazon for under $15. Set that up and create your own unique photoshoot.

The world is such a heavy place right now. The beauty of this season is a great reminder to do something new in your relationship. Doing something simple, like choosing a new restaurant, can add joy to what could become a mundane date night.

I want to hear your ideas for making special memories with your spouse.

God bless,
