Beware of the Deceiver

Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.  Revelation 12:7-9 

Can you grasp the staggering statement from that scripture? The enemy is out to lead each one of us astray. How? One of Satan’s weapons against Christians is deception and lies. Satan is the deceiver and father of all lies. Satan’s plan for the church and family is to divide, discourage, and destroy. 

Deception is one of Satan’s weapons that he used with Eve in the Garden, and he is still deceiving men and women around the world every day. Do you understand your spouse was deceived, tempted, and blinded from the truth of right and wrong?

The Lord has given us weapons to fight against him through the Blood of the Lamb, His Word, and our testimony. We have divine authority behind us; we are armed with weapons and ammunition, so we need to press forward into battle with bold confidence.

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.”  Revelation 12:10-11 

How many people do you know who have been deceived and have fallen into sin? How many people do you know who have fallen for the enemy’s lying, deceiving, and seducing tricks?

Are you trusting the Lord God for a miracle of marriage restoration? I was considered a fanatic when I was standing for restoration. We recently interviewed Anne and Brad on the Fight for Your Marriage Podcast and she was told the same thing. We were both fanatics for Jesus! I told people that I believed the Lord for a miracle for Bob to come home and for the Lord to heal our marriage. My Lord did not fail me, and I am still proclaiming His mighty power. Don’t hide the Lord; proclaim who you are in Christ!

One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts…They tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.  Psalm 145:4, 6 

What does the Word say? God’s people perish for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6) I sinned, as did Eve, by believing the devil’s lies, deceptions, and temptations. Your spouse has also been deceived.

The way out of the trap is by God’s Truths. The truth will set each of us free.

…Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free…So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”  John 8:31-32, 36 

We must be sensitive to the power of the Holy Spirit. Oh, that we would hear our Lord God daily! May we all be obedient to the Lord’s voice. The Truth will set us all free.

Have you been tempted to stop standing? Are you tired of doing things God’s way? Do you want to “get on with your life?” What other thoughts are you battling? Who do you think is giving you those thoughts, distractions, and temptations of weariness? Remember, they are an attack from the enemy trying to deceive you or take you captive to do his will, not God’s will! 

We need to remember that Jesus Christ died on the cross and defeated Satan. Satan lost the war, and Jesus Christ paid the price by shedding His Blood on Calvary. Satan has to flee when you speak the Name of Jesus. I pray you will learn to recognize the enemy’s tricks and use the weapons that your Lord has given you.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  1 John 4:4 (NKJV)
