Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Change Me, Lord

Do you want God to change you into His image? That starts with trusting in Jesus for salvation. When you ask God to cleanse you from your impurities, you say, “Forgive me, and change me, Lord.”  Part of being changed by God means that you must repent. To repent means to change – to turn around 180 degreesTo repent of our sins means to forsake them – to willingly surrender our entire life to the One who created us.  Every person who wants eternal life must repent, turning away from their sins and changing their behavior.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  1 John 1:9

You cannot change by yourself. Your flesh is weak. You may be tempted to return to your old ways and habits without God’s help. There have been thousands of stories, for centuries, of sinners crying out and being delivered from alcohol, drugs, pornography, adultery, overeating, smoking, and cursing, etc.  Do you want to be set free from the bondage of sin?  Be honest before God and yourself.  You must say, “Cleanse, forgive, and change me.”

Some people struggle with letting go of that sinful lifestyle. That is where so many of the prodigal spouses living in sin are right now.  Most of them know they need to change, but at this present moment, they do not want to turn away from the temporary high they are receiving from living in sin.

Do not compromise.  Are you living in sin?  You can repent now. Our Lord God is a Holy, awesome God, a jealous God, and a just God.  Our prodigals play with fire every day and gamble to not get burned.

Read the parable in Luke 16:27-29 about the rich man who had everything in this world.  Listen to his cry for his family:

…’ Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father’s house, for I have five brothers.  Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’  “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’  Luke 16:27-29

…”I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

There are consequences to sin. I am writing this in love and pleading with you to pray for your loved ones and all prodigals. Your prodigal may have been walking with Jesus at one point in their lives. Right now, they may have fallen into sin.  They may not see that there is a way out.  There is! Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light!  He will guide them out of the sin that they feel trapped in.

“…but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people.   Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. But they did not listen or pay attention; instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of  their evil hearts.  They went backward and not forward.”  Jeremiah 7:23 24

Have you been overwhelmed by your circumstances and allowed sin to enter your life? Have you treated your spouse with an unkind attitude?  You fell and sinned differently.  Let’s repent, turn, change, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

The enemy is after the church and God’s people. Let’s stop handing over to the enemy our pastors, music leaders, youth leaders, missionaries, leaders, and church family. Let’s proclaim there is another way.  Let’s fight for all these good people who have fallen and have been taken captive by the enemy. These are God’s children who need to come back to Him.

Let’s go on this spiritual journey, asking the Holy Spirit to change you first.  Then, choose to be a lighthouse for your Lord Jesus Christ. If you are going to say you are a Christian, let’s be different, as Jesus taught us to be.  “Lord, change me. I surrender my life to You.”

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.  Ephesians 5:1-2

God bless,
