The Discipline of Solitude and an Update on Charlyne
In today’s episode, we will give an update on our recent request for prayer for Charlyne. We will then discuss the spiritual discipline of silence and solitude before the Lord. We will explain what that means and how you can grow in your Christian walk as you intentionally take time to be still before the Lord.
One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Acts 3:1-10
Have you been hurt and rejected by your beloved spouse? Are you on your knees begging for God’s mercy to touch your spouse who has fallen into sin? Are you spending time with the Lord daily? Have you become lukewarm in your prayers, not even expecting the Lord to answer, because of your unbelief?
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17
Now this man that Peter and John told “in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk,” had been crippled since birth. What a miracle! This man was begging for money as he could not work, but instead, Peter and John changed his life completely. That is what the Lord wants to do for you. Do you believe in the power of the Name of Jesus? Do not be a Christian who walks in defeat, despair, and depression. The Lord has given us mighty weapons to defeat the enemy (Ephesians 6).
When Peter and John healed this crippled man, all the people were “filled with wonder and amazement at what happened to him.” When your spouse comes home, your family, friends, and church are going to be amazed at how the Lord touched and changed your spouse’s heart. Why are Christians so surprised at the power of Jesus Christ in changing people’s lives? That is why Jesus was sent to earth. Jesus Christ shed His Blood on the cross for all sinners to receive eternal life. God wants the world to see His mighty power in our daily lives. God wants us to praise and thank Him daily for His blessings and His presence in our lives.
Get on your knees, and ask the Lord to give you a new touch from Him. Has the enemy put bitterness, depression, doubt, and unbelief into your heart? Ask your Lord Jesus Christ to remove all doubt, fear, unbelief, unforgiveness, jealousy, and anger from your heart. Cry out to the Lord. Ask Him to make you into the man or woman that He wants you to be. Ask the Lord to give you unconditional love for your spouse. Now believe that Jesus Christ will do it for you today!
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5
As you continue on your journey of spiritual growth and marriage restoration, I pray that you will realize the power in the name of Jesus. You may be hurting so badly right now that you feel you cannot even pray. You may not comprehend how you are going to survive your marriage crisis, financially, emotionally, or spiritually. May I remind you that your Lord is right with you all the time. Call on Him, seek His face and His will for your daily life and marriage. I know from personal experience if you can only utter “Jesus, Lord, Savior, and Deliverer, help me!” the Lord will help you or give you peace that is beyond understanding. Try it!
Today, believe in the power of the Name of Jesus as there is no other name under Heaven that can change you, your spouse’s heart and heal your marriage!
