“Everything is possible for one who believes.” Mark 9:23
Is there an area in your life where you are praying that God will move a mountain? It could be a prodigal child or a financial issue you are facing, or maybe you are believing God for physical healing for someone. Jesus meant that anything is possible if we believe because nothing is too difficult for Him. Believing and trusting God is a constant daily process, turning our eyes to the Lord and not on our circumstances.
If someone were to talk to your family or closest friends, would they say you believe in the Lord for your miracle, or would they say you have unbelief in your heart? It is easy to believe when things are going well, but what about when we have circumstances and trials come against us?
How is your belief then?
Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness. Genesis 15:6
In Genesis 15:6, we read that Abram’s belief was credited to him as righteousness. Abram didn’t understand how God could give him a child despite his age and situation. Abram demonstrated his faith through his actions; it was his belief in the Lord, not his actions, that made him right with God.
BELIEVE IN THE WORD OF GOD
Do you believe in the Power of God? I hope so! You have seen God’s power revealed in your life through your restored marriage. It can still be easy to slip back into old thought patterns of unbelief.
Even when Jesus was alive and had done many miracles, people would still not believe in Him. You may be afraid to share what you are praying for with others out of fear of rejection or ridicule.
Take some time to read the whole parable in Mark 9:14-29. We see Jesus healing a demon-possessed boy. In verse 24, the boy’s father exclaimed, … “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” What an honest statement. When the enemy hits you with doubts and fears, cry out to your Lord and ask Him to help you overcome your unbelief. He will never fail you.
Moses faced a similar problem with the Israelites when they were afraid to enter Canaan. The Israelites had not believed God would be able to help them despite all He had already done. They refused to follow Moses because they looked only to their limited resources instead of God. Unbelief can be the root of many problems in our lives.
When you feel discouraged, you may be looking everywhere but to God for your help and guidance.
Ask the Lord to show you how to increase your belief in Him. It is like a muscle that takes faith to develop. Choose to believe and trust the Lord for every circumstance and start claiming the promises of God.
“If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes”! Psalm 81:13-14
