Fight for your Marriage

Ep 231 – Dr. Emerson Eggerichs – Seeing Your Marriage Differently

What if the breakthrough in your marriage starts with seeing it differently?

In this episode, Lori sits down with Dr. Emerson Eggerichs to talk about the powerful “lightbulb moments” that can shift everything. Drawing from decades of counseling couples and biblical insight, Dr. Eggerichs shares how one simple realization can change the direction of a marriage.

If you are standing for your marriage and feel stuck, discouraged, or unsure what God is doing, this conversation will help you step back and see your situation through a new lens.

You will be encouraged to:

  • Recognize what God may be revealing in your current season
  • Shift your perspective when emotions feel overwhelming
  • Find hope, even when nothing seems to be changing
  • Take one small step forward in faith

Sometimes, the change you are praying for begins when God gives you an ah-ha moment.

A great topic I’d love to hear more about is simply how to manage every day. I feel like I’m in a permanent state of fear. When I’m not fasting and praying, I’m crying and screaming at God… and when I find myself to be coping okay for a few hours, I chide myself for not fighting hard enough. So my question to Charlyne is how do you stand…?

Thanks Charlene, Lori, & RMM for bringing Dr. Emerson on the podcast. The discussion with Lori refreshed my memory on several healthy marriage nuggets that he pioneered: crazy cycle vs. energizing cycle; loving unconditionally as onto God; the wife’s critical need for love (i.e., loving is the in-built default mode created in her by God) and the husband’s critical need for respect (i.e., respect is the in-built default mode created in him by God); “live by the Holy Word, not by the Hollywood”; and much more.

During the early years of my Stand, I studied Dr. Emerson’s theology on marriage and I made sure to spread the word to married women through a one-day seminar based on the study guide videos and discussion questions. We thoroughly enjoyed the humour in the presentations. The seminar was beneficial for everyone. Thanks again for the wonderful memory recap of the biblical (and, of course, timeless) teachings.
