Restored and Redeemed

Has your marriage been restored? Restored & Redeemed is a devotional for those in a restored marriage.

Are You Following God’s Will for Your Restored Marriage?

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

Do you know God’s will for your life and marriage? More importantly, are you willing to do His will when it is different from what you want?

After Bob came home, I learned that restoration did not mean we could stop seeking the Lord. We needed His direction more than ever. We had habits to change, hurts to heal, and a marriage to rebuild on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.

The same is true for your restored marriage.

You may be facing decisions today that you never expected. What should you do? How should you respond to your spouse? What changes does the Lord want to make in you?

Do not rush ahead of Him. Seek His face. Open your Bible. Pray together. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you God’s will and give you the courage to obey Him.

Paul prayed:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives. Colossians 1:9

What a wonderful prayer to pray for yourself and your spouse!

“Lord, fill us with the knowledge of Your will. Give us Your wisdom and understanding.”

Knowing God’s will should change how you live. Paul continues by praying that believers would “live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way.” Colossians 1:10

Are you trying to please your spouse more than you are trying to please the Lord? Are you afraid to address something God is asking you to change because you do not want to disturb the peace in your home?

Your restored marriage belongs to the Lord. Ask Him to show both of you where you need to grow.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. Psalm 143:10

Notice that David did not only ask God to show him His will. He asked God to teach him to do it.

That must be our prayer also.

Lord, teach us to do Your will in our marriage. Help us obey You even when it is difficult. Protect our restored marriage from past mistakes. May our home bring honor and glory to You. Amen.

God bless,
