Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

God, Fill Me with the Knowledge of Your Will

As you stand in the gap for your marriage, are you asking God what His will is for your family? How can you know His will and way? One good place to start is by reading the scriptures that deal with marriage. Read what the Word says about a covenant between you, your spouse, and God.

Let me share one of Apostle Paul’s many favorite prayers specifically asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. This is an excellent prayer that you can personalize with your and your spouse’s names. I pray that you will know and do God’s will for your life and marriage!

Let’s look at each verse:

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,…  Colossians 1:9

  • May I encourage you to pray daily for the Lord to fill you, your spouse, your loved ones with God’s knowledge of His will. The Lord wants you to know His plan and purpose for each of our lives. Your thoughts, feelings, and emotions must be soaked with the knowledge of God’s will. The Lord will give you practical wisdom and insight every day. Just keep praying and talking to the Lord about everything.

…so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…  Colossians 1:10

  • Our goal as believers is to live our lives as the Lord teaches us. He wants us to radiate His love for others as we grow and mature in the Lord. We are His disciples, and as we grow in knowledge through reading the Bible and time communing with God, we become more like Him. How are you doing developing in the knowledge of the Lord?

being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.  Colossians 1:11-12

We need to get excited that the Lord is blessing us because of the inheritance that we have as a believer.

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14

  • We, as believers, have been delivered and set free from Satan’s power, dominion, authority and tyranny of darkness. Darkness speaks of a miserable, horrible state of being held captive by Satan. Darkness is a symbol of ignorance, falsehood, and sin. (taken from Liberty Bible Commentary)

There is freedom in Jesus Christ. (Galatians 5:1) What a praise.

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.  Isaiah 55:10-11

Don’t give up on God’s ability to rescue your spouse from the enemy’s tricks and schemes of darkness. Will you stand firm in the Lord every day, praying for your spouse’s heart to be touched by the Lord?

I pray that this passage of scripture in Colossians has encouraged and blessed your heart. When you pray and talk to the Lord, listen for His soft voice to your heart. The Lord will show you His will and way by His Word and other ways. Never doubt that God does speak to His children. He will reveal to you in more than one way what He wants to do for you, your marriage, and what He desires for your life. I pray that you will learn to respond to doing the will of God on an everyday basis.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  Colossians 1:9-14

God bless,

When the waves are high, when the sky is grey
When my eyes can’t find the safety of the shore
You are all around, I can feel it now
Jesus, You turn oceans into solid ground

I will not fear
