When the lockdown for Covid-19 started in March, I never expected things to change worldwide so much. In fact, it’s like two different lives in two different eras — pre Covid and post Covid. If standing for marriage was tough, with the pandemic, things have become tougher on all fronts. And there are lots of questions. Will life return to normal? Or is this the new normal? And the biggest one of all — where is God in all this?
Well God is still on the throne. He is still in control over everything. He’s not blind or deaf nor is He panicking about what to do. He sees the beginning and the end. He knows the outcome.
God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne. Psalm 47:8
“I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.'” Isaiah 46:10
He is still for us — for our marriages, health, finances, children. He’s on our side. We are not abandoned or forsaken or forgotten.
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;” Isaiah 49:15-6
He will take care of us during the challenging times of both marriage problems and pandemic problems and see us through till the very end.
“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” Isaiah 46:4
Now what’s His solution to the marriage problems and all other worldly issues? It’s you and me. We are the church. We are His temple. We are filled with His Holy Spirit. And we have been given authority to take a stand.
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Luke 10:19
It’s up to us to speak His word and use the authority He Has given us over our situations. We need to fast and pray. We need to suit up with the Heavenly Armor every day, as Charlyne says, and take a stand.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:13-18
We need to pray and put on this Armor over our lives and families by speaking it aloud and cover ourselves with the Blood of Jesus when entering into spiritual battle.
“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11
So whose plans are we going to agree with? The Lord’s good plans or the enemy’s evil plans?
Let’s get into agreement with the Lord’s good plans and the good thoughts He has for us. He loves our spouses and families even more than we do and wants marriages restored.
Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Mark 10:6-9
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
So when our marriages are shaken, and everything in the world which can be shaken is shaken, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus and cling to the solid rock of Jesus which cannot be shaken.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:2
