“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:25-26

We drove down a two-lane road, in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere. We were on a quest to find something fun to do while on vacation. The kids saw a sign on the side of the road, and they were in. “Pull over, Dad! Let’s do it!” The sign read

Corn Maze

Have I mentioned I am a Florida girl? Born and raised. We don’t really do corn mazes in Florida. I do like an adventure so I was in! It seemed like such a great idea. A corn maze, no map and three little kids. What could possibly go wrong?

It didn’t take long before the corn maze novelty wore off. It was the middle of summer and hot outside. What started as a fun maze soon became an insurmountable obstacle. I turned to my husband and inquired, “People make it out of here alive, right?”

Nobody warned us that we should have stopped at the concession stand for water and a flare gun. You know, just in case of emergency.

As we roamed inside the maze and found ourselves hitting the same corner time and time again, it felt like we would never figure out how to find the exit. Right in front of me, the maze looked small. I could only see a little bit of the actual maze. If I could have floated up and looked at the maze from above, I probably could have helped us find our way out in a timely manner.

Eventually, we found our way to the exit. The kids declared it a success and wanted to do it again. Even the child who got panicked in the midst of the maze had a change of heart once we were outside of the maze and looking back.

Isn’t that how we act when we are going through obstacles in our life? It seems like we are going in circles, never seeing God’s hand moving. It feels like our Creator has abandoned us. However, in reality, He hasn’t!

God has a perspective that we don’t. He knows the whole story! He sees the finish line.

We can consume ourselves with worry. We get anxious about the future. We get anxious about the unseen.

“So do not worry saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:31-33

By taking on anxiety, we are taking control from Jesus Christ. We are saying to our Master, “I don’t think You can handle this situation.”

Can you think back to a time in your life when you saw one perspective, but when that situation came to an end, you saw God’s plan?

Cling to that hope today.

I know that this season is painful. There are so many hurts that many of you face day after day. Things like divorce, children being born while a spouse is away from home, abandonment, and betrayal.

When you feel like you are stuck in a maze, when you can’t see the way out of your current situation, trust the One who holds your future in His hands.

He is worthy.

He can be trusted.

He thinks you are awesome and He wants the best for you!

“Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

God bless,

Lori
