Today’s message is from Bob, who was a prodigal who returned home and was remarried to me for an additional 23 years before the Lord took him home to Heaven. Bob wrote 19 books from the prodigal’s perspective for more than two decades after our divorce and remarriage. – Charlyne
In this green era, do you realize that you would be friendly to the environment by having a restored marriage? Here are my A to Z’s of marriage restoration that should gain you and me green approval.
A – Avoid paying dual rents and electric bills by going home.
B – Buy for your family’s needs instead of for your prodigal wants.
C – Clean up what you are reading and save trees by not buying borderline magazines of the world.
D – Dress to impress only your spouse, and don’t buy unnecessary clothing.
E – Elect to make your family a priority.
F – Forgive your spouse for their blunders during the restoration process.
G – Give away to someone in need all the “stuff” you have collected while on this prodigal journey.
H – Hide in your heart the Word of God. His precious promises are the key to the successful restoration of your marriage and family.
I – Identify areas of waste in both your physical life and your spiritual life.
J – Jesus Christ will be glorified by your rebuilding your family.
K – Keep your heart pure and your mind clear by not dwelling on thoughts of the other person.
L – Learn how to really love your standing spouse, as well as this earth. God has blessed you by creating both.
M – Make use of the simple joys of family life awaiting you. Let family, not fluff and stuff, be what makes you happy.
N – Notify your family that you have changed, not only in your environmental habits but even greater, in your walk with Christ.
O – Obey the speed limit to save gas, and obey God’s laws to protect your family.
P – Avoid polluting both this earth and the hearts of your family through the generational curse of divorce.
Q – Quit playing the blame game.
R – Recycle everything you possibly can, starting with your covenant marriage.
S – Share with others, at the right opportunity, what God has done for your family so other families can avoid the pit where you and I have been.
T – Turn down your thermostat as well as your boiling point.
U – Understand that Satan will not back off in his evil attacks on you and your family. Each day put on the Armor of God for protection.
V – Vacate your prodigal housing as well as your prodigal lifestyle.
W – Work on building both a Christian family and an environmentally friendly family.
X – Examine your motives when dealing with persons of the opposite sex.
Y – Yesterday is history. Your past, once confessed, is forgiven by God, so do not allow what has happened in the past to weigh you down.
Z – A zero divorce rate in your family must be your goal!
Regardless of if you have been out of your other relationship for 20 years or 20 minutes, please do not allow Satan to attempt to destroy your marriage again through the thoughts he places in your mind. Your family is worth the battle! Don’t ever give up on your restored marriage.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2
