GOD DOES SPEAK – ARE YOU LISTENING?
Are you asking the Lord to show you His will and way? Can you hear His soft voice. Charlyne cried out many years ago to “God write Your answers on the wall. I can’t hear You.” God did speak to Charlyne and she continues to tell standers that the Lord will answers you through scriptures and many others ways by speaking to you thru signs throughout your day.
Do you know when God is speaking to you? Are you listening? Open your spiritual eyes and ears! Bob also shares three examples of times that God was speaking to him as a prodigal spouse. If you are unsure about your hearing from God, this teaching will help you!
Today’s message is from Bob, who was a prodigal who returned home and was remarried to me for an additional 23 years before the Lord took him home to Heaven. Bob wrote 19 books from the prodigal’s perspective for more than two decades after our divorce and remarriage. – Charlyne
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.” Psalm 91:14-15
One of my habits has always been to write quotable quotes in the back of my Bible, along with the minister’s name and the date. One of my favorites is: “It’s not how loud you shout, but how straight you walk.” (Pastor Rick B. 6-9-85)
That note was made only days before I left home for the final time. You can decide why I would make that note from a sermon, and then go and do the exact opposite.
My head was hearing the Holy Spirit, but my heart was not. I pulled out the worn-out Bible that I carried to church with me most Sundays while in the far country of divorce. Here is some of what I heard and was impressed to record:
“Real success in life is to find the will of God and do it.”
“We are known not by what we are for, but what we are against.”
“Wisdom is the ability to discern God’s hand in human circumstances.”
“You are either a missionary or a mission field.”
“We forget what we know when we run from God.” (My favorite)
“It takes God longer to correct Christians than to get sinners saved.”
“Thy way or my way.”
“The devil often overplays his hand.”
“Could it be that God said go and I said no?”
“Live the life and then lip the message.” (Ouch!)
“Three things needed to live; love, forgiveness, and hope.”
“Religious activity is not equal to spiritual maturity.”
“Spend the short term on the long term.”
“Satan’s lie is that our temptation is unique to us.”
“The point of return to God is always the point of departure.”
“Growing Christians are under attack from the enemy, who says, ‘If you will slack off, I will quit firing.’ “
Most of these were written with a woman other than my wife sitting at my side. I wish that I could explain this to you, but I can’t. I was deceived. I now know that the Holy Spirit was speaking to me, but I chose to ignore His voice.
He was doing data entry into my spirit constantly, until July 7, 1987, when the Lord hit my play command. Everything from the back of my Bible, and so much more, suddenly came alive and made sense to me. I felt foolish. I felt frustrated. I felt failure. Then I felt forgiven.
Dear friend, you have no idea what happened between your prodigal and God yesterday. If the above quotes had been shown to Charlyne during her stand for my return to God and to our family, she might have said, “No way! My husband did not write that! You do not understand. He is out living in sin.”
The Holy Spirit of God is speaking to the one you love. May you pray that your covenant mate soon not only listens, but hears and obeys, as well.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:16-18
Because He lives,
