Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Helping Your Children Understand Your Stand

Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.  Psalm 127:3-5

Do you know how much your children need you? They need you to tell them that you love them and that you will be all right with God’s help. They need to know you will always be there for them. Right now, they need you to be the spiritual leader for this season in their life. You need to start speaking about your faith in God. Teach them about the love and power of your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Do your children know you still love their father or mother regardless of what they are doing? Allow your child or children to see that they can always love their other parent and that they do not have to pick sides. Children need to know that we serve an awesome, mighty God, and He can heal and resurrect your family in His timing. Will you teach your children the importance of their salvation, reading God’s Word, teaching them how to pray, and showing them that God has a plan and purpose for their life?

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.  Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Don’t ever give up on your children or your marriage. Regardless of their age, your children are also going through trauma, pain, rejection, and abandonment. Ask the Lord to give you ways to show your children that your God is taking you both through the storm of circumstances, yet He is still in control. Help them learn how to love and respect their prodigal parent because of what the Bible tells us.

“He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”  Malachi 4:6

If your kids still live at home, please find a Bible-teaching church and take your kids with you. It is such a valuable tool to have people who will come alongside you and help reinforce the biblical foundation you are giving your family at home.

Our daughter, Lori, still communicates with the Youth Pastor’s wife, which got her through many things during our divorce. Be proactive in getting them involved in church activities. Your children need other strong Christian leaders who can pray and help them during this challenging time.

Lord, may You speak to every parent who is acting like a prodigal and giving in to temptations of the flesh or the ways of the world. May they hear your voice and run from the sin for the sake of their marriage and their children’s lives.

God bless,
