Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

How Did my Life Become Such a Mess

Each week we share guest devotionals. The views expressed below are those of the writer and may not reflect the views of Rejoice Marriage Ministries or the Steinkamps.

Has the Lord placed a devotional on your heart that you would like to share with other standers?

God has given me numerous dreams, scriptures, and prophetic words during my stand for marriage restoration. The battle has been long and hard, and sometimes more than I thought I could bear. But with God’s help, I have become a master of forgiveness and you can too.

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”  Matthew 18:21-22 (NLT)

He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.  Psalms 147:3 (NLT)

Then if my people who are called by name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.  2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)

Although I would not consider myself a poet, I have written nine poems in the last few weeks that the Lord has given me. Below is one of them:

How did my life
Become such a mess?
Every single sin
Lord, now I confess.

Help me and heal me
Lord, help me let go
Of the pain and the hurt
The confusion, the lies.
Please tell me Lord,
Will it ever subside?

Just when I think
It’s about to end
It suddenly starts
All over again.

Seventy times seven
That’s what you said
For how many times
I must forgive and forget.

The assaults just keep coming
Lord, when will it end?
When will this broken
Heart of mine mend?

The battle is hard
But I know you’ll restore
And all of my trust
I put in you, Lord.

When it’s all said and done
I’ll finally understand
A walk through the fire
Was part of your plan.

Though I’m not restored yet
You’re still holding my hand
And if I had it to do over
I’d do it again!

God bless,

Deb in Washington
