Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

How to Pray More Specifically

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.  Isaiah 61:1-3

How is your faith today? You may be feeling hopeless and having a difficult time. You may not feel like praying or reading your Bible. Do you know what is happening? The enemy is coming against you.

Due to my lack of knowledge of God’s Word, I filed for divorce and did not forgive my husband, Bob, for his unfaithfulness. After our divorce, the Lord revealed to me His plan of how He could restore my marriage. God allowed me to hear the testimony of another couple who had a restored marriage.

After hearing their testimony, I studied the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. I learned about prayer and the power of our Lord, who came to seek and save the lost. God became so real to me. After I ran out of words, the Lord taught me to start praying Paul’s prayers (For example, Ephesians 1:16-20, Ephesians 3:16-20, Philippians 1:9-11, Colossians 1:9-1). There were many other scriptures I prayed with Bob’s name in them. There is such power in praying God’s Word; in time, you will see the evidence of a person’s heart softening.

Are you making time in the Word a priority every day? Are you getting dressed for a spiritual battle every day? Are you putting the Armor of God on your spouse and family? It’s not about crossing time with the Lord off a to-do list but about a desire to know the Lord better, to understand His ways, and to seek to serve Him.

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.  2 Corinthians 10:3-5

You are in a spiritual battle. John 10:10 (NKJV) says: The thief does not come except to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly. What a promise!

This scripture shows us that our enemy is Satan. Your spouse is not your enemy.  (Ephesians 6:12). Your spouse has been deceived and is blinded. (Isaiah 42:6-7). I want you to learn how to stand firm in the Lord. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Put all your faith, hope, and trust in your Lord God!

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.  Psalm 139:23-24

It is time to start praying specific prayers.

The first step in learning how to do this is to bind against the sinful nature as in Galatians 5:19-21 and then loose the fruit of the Spirit on you or your family as in Galatians 5:22-23. Just imagine if you would pray that your loved ones would crucify their sinful nature and surrender their life to the Lord. May we never stop praying for the family members who have backslidden or have never committed to the Lord.

Will you stand in the gap for your spouse? Will you stand firm in your faith, from now on, every day fighting for your spouse and marriage, taking back from Satan the territory that He has stolen?

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.  1 John 4:4

God bless,

Should I stand in gap for my unbelieving “ex” husband? He hates me for becoming Christian. Bible says to let the unbeliever go, which I’ve done since left he left over 4 years ago.

Ask God what you should do. I have been standing for 8 yrs. Separated, divorced and He remarried. God hates divorce. It’s not easy to stand in the gap. We are praying for their souls. For salvation. We are growing our relationship with Jesus. We are praying for their hearts of stone to become hearts of flesh. They have been tricked by Satan. The time apart allows us to work on our relationship with Jesus, to forgive and love our spouse unconditionally. To share our faith and encourage others. For nothing will be impossible with God
Luke 1:37 God is able.
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. Exodus 14:14
Seek, Pray and worship. Don’t give up. Gods word will not return void.
Praying for thousands of prodigals to come to Jesus and to come home. He ( Jesus) will go get the one. He leaves the 99 to get the one. Who will pray for your spouse if you don’t? Your prayers as his wife are powerful. Honestly I took a detour for 17 months of my stand after he divorced me. I didn’t want to think about him or pray for him. I thought about dating too. I even took my ring off but God kept reminding me about my husband. I stayed faithful. We all grow weary and lose heart. We go through many seasons and many emotions as we stand and wait. God is faithful even when we fail. I will pray that God will help you to not give up. There is a really good movie called “The Case For Christ”
Very encouraging.

Thank you Teresa. I appreciate you. I still pray for him and I’ve not worn my rings since the day he left. Unfortunately, ive also changed my surname back to my maiden name out of pride of course. I struggle with believing that he will be saved or come back to me. He seems to be having a great life without us. God bless and thank you.
