Restored and Redeemed

Has your marriage been restored? Restored & Redeemed is a devotional for those in a restored marriage.

Is Time with God a Priority Now That Your Marriage Has Been Restored?

Do you have a hunger and thirst for the Word of God? All of us have a Bible at home, but what are you doing with that Bible? Do you scroll social media first thing in the morning, or are you anxious to start your day in God’s Word? Do a self-examination of your priorities.

Could you set your alarm 15 minutes earlier so you would have time to start your day with the Lord? When you put the Lord first, you are setting your day up for success. Spending time with the Lord later in the day is also acceptable, but you may have found that the day’s business snuffs out the time you thought you had for a time in the Word.

Let’s do a study today on the longest chapter in the Bible. Psalm 119 has 176 verses. Almost every verse mentions God’s Word using many different names. You will find words like law, testimony, judgements, statutes, commandments, precepts, words, ordinances, and ways. This Psalm is dedicated to the praise of God’s Word.

The Bible is our guide for living a Christ-like life. If we strive to become more like Christ, we can get to know Him through His Word. The enemy would love for us to become too busy for a time in the Word. Knowing and understanding the Bible will help us avoid paths that lead to destruction. God promises on those pages that He will be with us through everything we will face in this life.

All we have to do is repent, invite Christ into our lives and respond to His direction. By seeking God’s forgiveness, we can have freedom from sin. God has a plan for your life!

Many people have said that once their marriage was restored, they noticed they didn’t have as much time with the Lord. 1 Corinthians 7:29-30 talks about how our time is divided when we are married. You have to be purposeful to spend time with the Lord now that your marriage is restored.

Let’s look over some of the powerful scriptures from this Psalm.

Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— Psalm 119:2

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. Psalm 119:18

Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Psalm 119:33-34

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105

I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. Psalm 119:147

I want to challenge you to spend time with the Lord. Ask Him to show you His best for your family. God’s Word is your daily nutrition and strength. If you don’t eat, you will become weak. If you don’t spend time with the Lord, your faith will become weak.

Ask the Lord today for a new hunger and thirst for His Word. He is faithful!

God bless,
