“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!”  Matthew 6:22-23

God says throughout the Bible, that He will set the captives and prisoners free. He will give sight to the blind and heal the sick. Ask the Lord to do this for your spouse, and believe that He will do it! It is God’s will for all sinners to be saved. Pray for your husband, wife, or child to receive healing from their spiritual blindness caused by sin.

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped.  Isaiah 35:5

Do you know someone who has chosen to run from the responsibility of being a husband or wife? Pray for them. I believe the Lord works when a person begins praying for their beloved spouse to repent to the Lord and then turn their heart back to their family.

Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart…Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.  2 Timothy 2:22, 25-26

Do you believe that God changes people? Have you heard of testimonies of people having life-changing experiences from drugs and alcohol to becoming strong followers of Christ? Do you believe that your Lord can change your spouse that way? The answer  is “Yes!” God is in the people-changing business. He touches people’s hearts and changes people completely from the inside out. Sometimes it is instantly, and other times it is a spiritual process as a baby growing in the Lord.

Do you remember Saul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus? Saul, who persecuted and killed Christians, then received an assignment to preach the Gospel to those in Jerusalem, Judea, and the Gentiles.

One day this week, I prayed for many couples by name by putting their husbands’ or wives’ names in a specific scripture. The more I prayed, the more powerful the scripture seemed to me. Let me share the scripture:

“‘To open their eyes, and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'”  Acts 26:18

Pray this for your spouse. Pray that God will:

  1. Open their eyes – open their understanding.
  1. To turn your spouse from darkness to light.
  1. Turn them from the power of Satan to God.
  1. Your spouse will then receive forgiveness for their sins.
  1. Forgiveness is an inheritance for a child of the King because Jesus Christ died and shed His Blood on the cross at Calvary.
  1. When your spouse is forgiven and delivered from the control of sin and Satan, they are sanctified, and saved by faith in Jesus Christ.

“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”  Isaiah 42:16

What a promise! God is touching and changing men and women every day. Don’t give up! God is moving every day in different ways in your spouse’s life. Keep your eyes on the Lord and not on your spouse.

Are you praying scriptures with your spouse’s name in them? Please try to commit to praying scriptures with your spouse’s name in them.

Let me share the scripture above from Acts 26:18, written in a prayer that you can pray:

Lord, I am praying for my husband/wife (name) and for every prodigal who is away from you. Lord, you know where every spouse is in the pigpen of life away from their families. Open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those sanctified by faith in You. Lord, go and bring my husband/wife home quickly. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

I know that all prodigals who have returned home (and there are many) are very thankful that their spouse did not give up on them! Don’t give up on your spouse! God is able!

God bless,

guest
