Mark 10 Nine

Are you happily married and looking for tips on maintaining a God-honoring marriage? This weekly devotional will give you encouragement for your marriage.

Lord, Rekindle My Love for My Spouse

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” …But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.  Genesis 2:18, 20-25

Does it feel like you can’t find the unconditional love you once had for your spouse? Do you remember how you felt on your wedding day? What happened? Have you allowed other things in life to take priority over your marriage?

The enemy came in to steal, kill and destroy your marriage. Will you reflect and think about the beautiful memories you have had with your beloved husband or wife? Will you be the first in your marriage to choose to love your spouse unconditionally? It takes one person to take the first step.

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.  1 Peter 4:8

Don’t forget the sanctity and covenant of marriage. Don’t take lightly the vows you made. Marriage is God’s plan. Will you allow Him to make your marriage all that He wants it to be? God has the power to heal and change your family.

Will you seek God’s perfect will for your marriage? God needs only one person to stand in the gap to start working on your marriage.

“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”  Ezekiel 22:30

You may be getting weary and tired because you have such a massive responsibility at this moment. Ask your Lord, to help meet all your needs.

Spend time with the Lord. Ask Him questions. Write them down, and then wait for His wisdom. Let the Lord guide you in how to bring love back into your marriage. Never forget that nothing is too hard for God to do, including resurrecting a hurting marriage.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.  1 Corinthians 13:2-8

Today, ask the Lord to rekindle the love in you and your spouse’s hearts to feel that spark you had for each other again. I know it can happen, as I hated my husband, but the Lord touched and changed my heart first, and then God started working on my husband’s heart.

God bless,
