Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Lord, Restore Our Marriage

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”  Mark 10:6-9

How much do you love your spouse? Are you willing to wait for the Lord’s timing to restore and rebuild your marriage?

You may ask, “How do I know the Lord will rebuild our marriage?” The answer is you don’t know. But you do know that God is faithful, and He can be trusted. Obedience is not about the outcome but about having faith.

How would you define true love? Imagine if we were able to interview 20 couples who are preparing for marriage. How would they describe true love?

1 Corinthians 13 provides a beautiful definition of love. You can personalize and pray this scripture daily with both your names in it. Then, ask the Lord to open the doorway of communication so that you can show your beloved spouse your true love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.  1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Instead of unconditional love, I tried to control Bob’s sinful nature by giving him ultimatums and boundaries. Little did I know that is exactly what the enemy wanted me to do in our marriage. That gave Bob the perfect opening and reason for him to pack up and leave, falling deeper into Satan’s trap of adultery.

I did not understand, nor was I told by anyone, that our marriage problems were a spiritual battle between darkness and light. I reacted and lived by my emotions and feelings. My own hurt and pain turned into anger and bitterness.

Will you choose today to die to your sinful nature and ask the Lord to fill you with the fruit of the Spirit (read Galatians 5:22-26) and give You His unconditional love for your one flesh husband or wife?

You have a choice. There is no greater gift you can give your spouse today than loving them unconditionally and waiting on your Lord to heal and resurrect your dead marriage.

I want to share something from Bob’s first book, Prodigals Do Come Home,

The Thing To Do

To us it is no secret, what the Lord wants to do.
Restore our marriage and make us happy, too.
What He’s done for millions, He’s wanting to do,
Restore our marriage, make our family new.

We have our doubts, think it can’t be done,
When we trust in Jesus, He’ll make us one.
It matters not how bad the past has been,
Let the Blood of Jesus cover all your sins.

Others will say divorce is the thing to do.
Even a court may say the marriage is through,
Our Lord is wanting His perfect will to do,
Restore our marriage, make our family new.

To us it is no secret, what the Lord wants to do,
Restore our marriage and make us happy too.
What He’s done for millions, He’s wanting to do,
Restore our marriage, make our family new.

Will you pray with us that all men of God will share the permanence of marriage, with unconditional love, taking both men and women to Ephesians 5:21-33 every day in their ministry? We can continue to pray for the Lord to touch and change hardened hearts of couples who are sitting with each other, but have a battle raging at home. Pray for the many prodigal husbands and wives to have their hearts and lives transformed by the Holy Spirit speaking to them louder and louder. Pray for the Lord to open all prodigal spouses’ ears, eyes, and hearts to receive God’s truths about the permanence of marriage.

Will you pray in agreement with us that every prodigal will come to their senses, repent, and start the process of coming home today by calling their spouse or parents? Praise the Lord in advance for what He is doing on the other side of all the prodigals’ mountains.

Lord, teach me how to pray and love my spouse unconditionally rather than with tough love, as they have fallen into the sins of the world. I am standing, praying, and waiting for them to come to their senses. Lord, give me the strength to stand firm in faith, always believing that nothing is too hard for You to do. Show me Your will and way to fight for my marriage. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

God bless,
