Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Lord, Restore Our Marriage

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one not separate.”  Mark 10:6-9

How much do you love your spouse? Are you willing to wait on the Lord’s timing in restoring and rebuilding your marriage?

How would you define true love? Imagine if we could interview 20 couples who are preparing for marriage. How do you think they would define true love?

In 1 Corinthians 13, there is a beautiful explanation of what every person should continuously strive to show their spouse; true love. How are you doing? You can personalize and pray this scripture daily with your names in it. Ask the Lord to open the doorway of communication so that you can show your beloved spouse your true love.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hope, always perseveres. Love never fails.  1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Are you showing your spouse tough love or unconditional love? I know from experience that I used tough love. I chose not to listen to the Lord’s soft voice before our divorce. I wanted to retaliate. I was hurting and wounded. I wanted our marriage restored, but I did not believe in the Lord’s power, nor did I have any faith.

Instead of unconditional love, I tried to control Bob’s sinful nature by giving him ultimatums and boundaries. Little did I know, that is exactly what the enemy wanted me to do in our marriage. That gave Bob the perfect opening and reason for him to pack up and leave, falling deeper into Satan’s trap of adultery.

I did not understand, that our marriage problems were a spiritual battle between darkness and light. I reacted and lived by my feelings. My own hurt and pain turned into anger and bitterness.

Will you choose to die to your own sinful nature and ask the Lord to fill you with the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-26) and give You true unconditional love for your husband or wife?

You have a choice. There is no greater gift you can give your spouse today than loving them unconditionally, waiting on your Lord to heal and resurrect your dead marriage.

I want to share something from Bob’s first book, Prodigals Do Come Home, written two years after our remarriage in 1987:

The Thing To Do

To us it is no secret what the Lord wants to do.
Restore our marriage and make us happy, too.
What He’s done for millions, He wants to do,
Restore our marriage, make our family new.

We have our doubts, think it can’t be done,
When we trust in Jesus, He’ll make us one.
It matters not how bad the past has been,
Let the Blood of Jesus cover all your sins.

Others will say divorce is the thing to do.
Even a court may say the marriage is through,
Our Lord wants His perfect will to do,
Restore our marriage, make our family new.

To us it is no secret, what the Lord wants to do,
Restore our marriage and make us happy too.
What He’s done for millions, He wants to do,
Restore our marriage, and make our family new.

Will you pray with us that all men of God will share the permanence of marriage with unconditional love, taking both men and women to Ephesians 5:21-33 every day in their ministry? We can continue praying for the Lord to touch and change the hardened hearts of couples sitting with each other but have a battle raging at home. Pray for the many prodigal husbands and wives to have their hearts and lives transformed by the Holy Spirit speaking to them louder and louder. Pray for the Lord to open all prodigal spouses’ ears, eyes, and hearts to receive God’s truths about the permanence of marriage.

Will you pray in agreement with us that every prodigal will come to their senses, repent and start the process of coming home today by calling their spouse or parents? We have already heard of some spouses who have returned home because of the Coronavirus issues. Praise the Lord in advance for what He is doing on the other side of all the prodigals’ mountains.

Lord, teach me how to pray and love my husband/wife unconditionally rather than with tough love, as they have fallen into the sins of the world. I am standing, praying, and waiting for them to come to their senses. Lord, give me the strength to stand firm in the faith, always believing that nothing is too hard for You to do. Show me Your will and way to fight for my marriage. Lord, may you give me true unconditional love for my spouse every day, regardless of their words, actions, and lifestyle. Reignite and rekindle both of our hearts to love each other unconditionally and remove any unforgiveness in both of our hearts. Fill us up with Your love and forgiveness that can only come from the Holy Spirit. Lord, may You give me Your boldness to share with my children, family, and friends that my marriage is forever! May both my husband/wife and I never forget our wedding vows, and may we both live them out forever as we serve You after our marriage is rebuilt on the solid foundation of our Lord Jesus Christ forever. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

God bless,

Amen! Thank you Charlyne! Whenever I have shown tough love, it has always backfired on me. Father fill us with the love of Jesus and let it overflow out of us to our spouses. Thank You that You will always devise ways to get our spouses back( 2 Samuel 14:14). We pray in agreement for restoration and breakthroughs in all our marriages!
