Charlyne Cares

Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Lord, Speak To Me

“’Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”  Jeremiah 33:3

Are you talking to the Lord and seeking His will in your life? He is not gone. He is on the throne and in control of every day of your life. God alone knows everything that you are going through. He loves you and wants the best for you and your spouse. May I challenge you to learn to listen for the Lord’s voice in your life?

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:12-13

Well-meaning people are going to give you lots of advice. I found that to be true when I was standing for my marriage. The question is, “Who should you listen to?” I can tell you that I took advice from others and divorced my husband. After my divorce, I realized their advice was not God’s will for my marriage. Learn from my mistakes. Seek God for His perfect answers for your marriage and your life.

God does speak! Whether you are reading God’s Word or praying, ask the Holy Spirit to open your spiritual eyes and ears to hear and see God’s will for your marriage. He will speak to you through His Word. He wants to guide you, provide for you and direct your every step. Talk to your Lord as you would a friend. Share your tears, your fears, and your many questions. Write down your questions to remember when God speaks His answers. Then when He speaks to you, tell others, so they can learn to seek the Lord for His divine answers.

Another essential principle to remember is that God does not speak contrary to the Word of God. This principle is fundamental. I cannot tell you how many spouses have told their husband or wife that the Lord told them it was all right for them to leave and pursue another person. That is a lie from the enemy.

Every Christian has to learn to distinguish the voice of God compared to the voice of your flesh or the enemy. Do you know how many divorces could be restored when the prodigal spouse realizes that they have been deceived?

When a family member calls you, do you recognize their voice? Of course you do! You will also learn to recognize your Lord’s voice the more you talk to Him.

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow Me.”  John 10:27

I want to challenge you to “listen” for the Lord’s voice. Yes, “listen” for the Lord to speak to you! Cry out to Him, seek Him, and then listen to His soft voice. When I started praying for Bob, I did not know God would speak to me. Now I ask people, “Has the Lord spoken to you?” If not, keep asking questions and wait for His answers.

Yes, God does speak! I was no one special but a woman who had failed miserably in my marriage and as a Christian. I was hurting, wounded, and depressed, and unaware of how deep my Lord’s love, grace, and mercy was for His children and me. Now, seek Him for your answers. He is the greatest Savior, Lord, Friend, Healer, Defender, Advocate, and Counselor in the world!

God bless,
