Charlyne Cares

Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Lord, Teach Me to Do Your Will

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.  Psalm 32:8

What is your heart’s cry to your Lord daily? My heart’s cry is for the Lord to direct my every step and teach me all that I need to know to serve Him. I pray that you will cry out and pray, “Lord, teach me all that I need to know about becoming more like You.”

I often feel so inadequate to write a daily devotional that I am always asking the Lord to teach me more each day. I often feel like Moses felt when he said, “Who am I?” God answered by saying:

The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”  Exodus 4:11-12

One of your prayers is likely to have your marriage restored and rebuilt by the Lord. If we do not speak up and share God’s truths to the many people around us, shame on us! God has opened our spiritual eyes and ears to His truths about the institution and sanctity of marriage. We need to tell others that there is hope for the restoration of marriages when we turn our lives over to our Lord.

As you are going through your marriage problems, do not let the enemy defeat you with thoughts that you married the wrong person or that your problems are impossible.

When you have marriage problems, it may mean that one or both of you need to be healed and delivered from some past pain, abuse, rejection, or wounding that one of you suffered before your marriage. You and your spouse are two unique individuals, and you have become one flesh by God. God is greater than any problem and He will teach you how to fight for your marriage as you learn how to become the spouse that God wants you to become.

“‘…For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh?’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one not separate.”  Matthew 19:5-6

May you cry out today, “Lord, teach me how to pray for my spouse and family! Amen.” Ask your Lord to teach you about the power of prayer, about spiritual insight with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Your Lord will guide and give you wisdom if you only ask Him. When your Lord speaks to your heart, He will reveal truths that will amaze you, as He knows everything!

“’Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”  Jeremiah 33:3

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray…” He said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.’”  Luke 11:1-2

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.  Ephesians 1:17-19

What do you need to know today? Do you need to learn how to control your anger?  Have you learned how not to argue with your spouse? Do you need to learn how to control your tongue when talking to your children or spouse? Today, ask the Lord to reveal areas in your own life that need to be changed first so you can become the husband or wife you need to be and a committed child of God.

Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.  Psalm 141:3

Lord, teach me to love and fear You. I want to know Your will and way in my life and what will be the best for me, my marriage and my family. Lord, teach me to surrender my own will and way to your plan and purpose for my marriage and that I will trust You forever. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

When you fear God, you will live a life of obedience to His commandments and say “No” to sin. Now you know why we pray that your spouse will fear God quickly, right now.

So today, cry out to your Lord, “Teach me your will and way in my life. Lord, I want to learn everything You want to teach me. Open my spiritual eyes and ears each day to hear and see Your will and way. Amen.” God does speak to His children if we will humble ourselves, praying, and seeking Him. Your Lord will be the greatest teacher you will ever have, so listen to all His instructions, and He will teach you all you need to learn about His will.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good spirit lead me on level ground. For your name’s sake, Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.  Psalm 143:10-11
