You can probably list the benefits package offered if you have a job. You may have benefits for sick time, vacation, and holiday pay. When an applicant goes in for a job interview, one of the things usually discussed is employee benefits.
Do you know we have benefits as a child of God? You may feel unloved and overwhelmed by your circumstances, or defeated and hopeless. Today, I want to encourage you. If you are a child of God, the Lord loves you, and His benefits are awesome! He is your Savior, Healer, Redeemer, Deliverer, and the greatest Counselor you could ever know.
When you repent of your sins and surrender your life to Jesus, He gives you the benefit of eternal life. Have you made that decision in your life? Have you repented, and are you choosing to live a Christ-like lifestyle, growing in the Lord every day?
When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:20-23
One of the main reasons I started praying for Bob was that he would turn his life back to the Lord. I did not want Bob to suffer the consequences of living in sin. I pray that the Holy Spirit has already revealed scriptures to you about the cost of disobedience and that you have become burdened for your spouse.
“I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 17:10
One benefit of knowing the Lord is learning how to exhibit His agape love and unconditional love for your spouse. Marriage restoration starts when one spouse starts praying for their husband or wife’s hardened heart to be softened and touched so they can hear the Lord’s voice and see God’s truth. Unforgiveness is a sin and a problem that can block answers to prayer.
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15
You may struggle with a desire to have your spouse home because you don’t like how they are acting. I understand. Pray for a heart transformation in them. Remember, the enemy has blinded and deceived them. People are delivered and set free from their sinful nature every day. Nothing is impossible for God!
“I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God”. Ezekiel 11:19-20
Remember the benefit of your salvation with the Lord Jesus Christ, who paid the price of shedding His Blood on the cross for all sinners.
