Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world, both low and high, rich and poor alike: My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the meditation of my heart will give you understanding. Psalm 49:1-3
Do you like to listen to the sounds of our world? You may be driving or sitting at a red light and hear someone else honking their horn. Sitting in my office, I just listened to an airplane fly overhead, approaching our nearby airport. While driving, you may hear a siren from a police car or ambulance, each of them heading to a crisis call.
If you drive by a baseball or soccer field, you can hear all the parents cheering for their children. If you drive by a school, you can listen to children of all ages outside playing. Sit there long enough, and you will hear their school bell ringing ending that class. Many sounds in our world are trying to get our attention.
Do you know that the Lord is calling you and your family to quiet the noise while listening to His voice of hope and instruction?
We see many people around us who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ daily. He shed His blood on the cross for all sinners. As you drive to work or school or drive by the houses in your neighborhood, you can start praying for those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or have the assurance of eternal life.
There are so many people around the world struggling with unanswered questions and challenges. Their marriage may be falling apart. They may be longing for someone to give them hope. The world around them is noisy. We have the answer in Jesus Christ, so we get the opportunity to share the good news with them.
As you listen to the many different sounds of the world, will you tune your hearing even better as you stand in line at the grocery store or at work or as you get a cup of coffee? May you listen to the ones speaking about their problems. Then may you start praying and asking the Lord to open the door for you to speak God’s amazing love and peace to that person.
When a crisis hits a family, the only true answer is the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Protector, our Defender, our Advocate, and our best friend in the dark. Your family will go through a struggle at some point. For some families, it may be minor, while others face catastrophic issues.
The world around us is noisy, especially when you are facing a trial. Soldiers don’t go into war without training. As followers of Christ, we can train to hear His voice by spending time in the Word.
Don’t be distracted by the noise around you, and pay attention to the only One who has the answers for your marriage and family. That person is Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17
God bless,
