Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea. “The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.” Exodus 15:1-3
Will you choose to sing praises to the Lord, who paid the ultimate price of shedding His blood at Calvary for your sin? God loves His children so much that He sent His only Son to come to earth to save His people from their sins. The Lord came to preach the Gospel to the poor, the oppressed, and those crushed in spirit and brokenhearted. He wants to open the eyes of the blind. Your spouse’s eyes may not be opened yet, but keep believing that God’s amazing grace is all you need.
I want to share a Bible story of God’s mighty power and His divine plan and purpose for all His people. Open your Bible and read Exodus Chapters 14 and 15. You may remember that Moses was given an assignment to go and take all the Israelites out of Egypt, where they were suffering oppression and were slaves of the king of Egypt, Pharaoh. God orchestrated ten plagues and hardened Pharaoh’s heart to get His children, the Israelites, free from slavery.
The Lord went ahead of the Israelites by day in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. This guide was with them for 40 years until they reached the Promised Land. Is that not amazing?
In Exodus 14, you will read about the Egyptian army chasing after the Israelites after they had been set free from Pharaoh’s slavery.
Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.” Exodus 14:13-17
And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived. Exodus 14:25-28
The scripture at the top of the devotional was Moses and the Israelites, who were singing a song of praise after their mighty God rescued them from their enemy by parting the Red Sea. Will you believe that your mighty God can rescue you in spite of your circumstances today? I pray you will take the time to read these two chapters and marvel at how hopeless the circumstances were and how God showed His mighty power suddenly in destroying the enemy.
Are you scared of your circumstances? Are you tired and weary? I truly understand. I understand all the responsibilities that you are facing every day that a husband and wife should be facing together. May the story in Exodus 14 and 15 encourage you and increase your faith in God’s mighty power for you regarding the circumstances that are facing you today.
I know you may feel like the Israelites in Egypt. You may feel abandoned, hopeless and tormented. It may be hard for you to pray, but the Lord hears your prayers. The Lord will never leave or forsake you. Hold on! The Lord will part your Red Sea in His perfect timing!
Will you sing now and worship the Lord in faith? I know you may not feel like it, but God understands. The Lord is going to part your Red Sea and defeat the enemy suddenly! I will sing, oh yes I will, I will sing!
