Why is it so easy to be distracted during these times of standing? Why does our pain and suffering seem to never end? Why does it seem like no one understands what we are living through? Is my life going to always feel like it is on hold? Year after year waiting on God’s promises I know He made me. Thousands of confirmations from Him that I am on the right track, that I am doing His will for my life. So when God, when? What did He tell us?
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12
How selfish we can become about ourselves and our will for our lives and our desires that we want today. So many others need help now. So many others need Jesus now. So many others don’t have what we have. You may ask, what is it we have? We have peace in the chaos. Can you imagine going through life in 2023 without Jesus? Can you imagine standing and fighting for our marriages without Jesus? So then why do I always have so much fear if all I have to do is trust in His promises? What did He tell us?
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
When God made me a promise many years ago, oh how I thought the call, text, email or knock at the door was imminent. What I have learned over this time span is that God’s timing is perfect. God will open the door of communication and break the silence between my prodigal and me in His time, not mine. I have had to learn patience and learn that God’s plan/will will be done. There is purpose in the pain and there is purpose in the timeline. Mostly I have learned that this is not for me to question or figure out. God will bring my wife home in His time. So what can I do? I don’t have a restored marriage testimony to share yet. How can I help? What can I do in the meantime? How can I share all that my heavenly Father has taught me during these years with others? What did He tell us?
“The thief comes only to steal and kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Our job is to save as many as we can. Our job is to witness to as many as we can now. We can help now by praying for all prodigals and standers. We need to lead as many as we can to Jesus now. We as standers have the wisdom and knowledge of what’s coming. Jesus is coming. This old world is not going to make it. Time is short. The bridge is out ahead. We need to warn all whom we can. God’s desires right now for what He wants to do in us and through us are way greater than our desires for the prodigals to come home. God will bring them home, not us. So while we are in this wait, let’s work for the Lord day and night, telling others about Jesus. What did He tell us?
Why, you do not know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. James 4:14
Let’s not get so distracted about what we don’t have yet that we miss what God is trying to do through us while we wait.
