Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

The Testing Of Your Faith

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham”‘ “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. Genesis 22:1-3

What would you have done if God had spoken to you as he spoke to Abraham? I love to teach and read about Abraham’s life and his walk of faith. There are such powerful lessons of truth throughout his life that you can use to help you through standing and believing for your marriage to be restored.

Abraham was used by God to show us a great example of faith. How is your faith today? Do you believe that God can heal your marriage? Do you have faith in His plan for your future?

Abraham had several tests. He had to leave his loved ones by a step of faith and move to a new land. Abraham passed some tests, but he also failed some. One we all know about involves his wife, Sarah, and the child they longed for. Abraham did not wait for God’s timing. Instead, he manipulated the situation to gain that child. Sometimes we are not going through a test, but it is actually a temptation from the enemy. You need to learn to tell the difference between a trial (used by God) or a temptation, which is a trick from the enemy.

We are never too old to face new challenges, fight new battles and learn new truths from God’s Word. Abraham teaches us how to face the tests of life to bring glory to God. I know I failed a temptation from the enemy by divorcing Bob. But when God spoke to me in a church service two months after our divorce, I know I passed the test. I surrendered my life to my marriage and made a total commitment to my Lord forever. Have you done this yet?

God spoke to Abraham, he obeyed Think about Abraham’s obedience. How are you doing in obeying the Lord in the little or big things? What has the Lord been speaking to you about? Have you obeyed Him? Today, read Genesis 22:1-19:

On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” Genesis 22:4-5

Do you notice Abraham’s statement? “We will come back!” Now that is a man of faith. Let me share another powerful scripture emphasizing what Abraham was thinking. He believed in God’s promise about Isaac and believed that God could even bring Isaac back to life, if he had died.

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death. Hebrews 11:17-19

Are you speaking in faith when you to talk to people? This is an important lesson to learn. I started speaking faith to those I would talk to. If they asked questions, I shared my testimony of how the Lord touched and changed my heart. I would open my Bible and share scriptures and ask them to pray for Bob. Do you see how you can become a man or woman of faith, instead of speaking gossip or slandering your beloved spouse?

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, ‘Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together. Genesis 22:6-8

We need to depend on God’s provisions. He will never fail us. He did not fail Abraham either. Think about all that Abraham experienced and learned while growing in the Lord. Are you willing to learn to grow in the Lord and increase your faith? Are you willing to be obedient to the Lord’s way in your life?

What are you facing today? Ask the Lord if you are in complete submission to His will and way in your life and marriage. Have you made a total commitment to your marriage, regardless of what your spouse may be saying to you? If not, what do you need to change? Ask your Lord God to direct your every step as He did for Abraham. Learn to hear the Lord’s voice and be obedient to His directions every moment of your life. Choose to be obedient to God’s way!

God bless,
