Fight for Your Marriage

Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

The Truth of God’s Word

Each week we share guest devotionals. The views expressed below are those of the writer and may not reflect the views of Rejoice Marriage Ministries or the Steinkamps.

Has the Lord placed a devotional on your heart that you would like to share with other standers?

When the enemy wants to get you down, he does it by attacking your identity. He did the same with Jesus and failed as Jesus answered back with God’s Word.

During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, ….  Matthew 4:3 (NLT)

Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off!  Matthew 4:5-6 (NLT)

He does the same with us by feeding us with lies in our mind. “If God loves you, this wouldn’t have happened,’ casting doubts on God’s love. “You are worthless and ugly, that’s why your spouse has run off,” and so on. Many times, it’s not just in our heads, but we also get to hear this stuff spoken by the enemy through our spouse.

How did Jesus respond? Through God’s Word.

How should we? The same way. Not to our spouse but to the enemy.

Why does the enemy do this? If you believe the lies, you will walk around in defeat instead of victory. Do you know you are on victory ground? Even before you set your foot on a place, God Has allotted it to you.

“I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you.’”  Joshua 1:3 (NLT)

Crush the mountain of lies and deception by using God’s Word and promises as a weapon. Get into agreement with what God says about you.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT)

You are chosen, not forsaken. You are who God says you are.

…you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.  1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)

God is all around you and His Spirit is inside of you and He Has overcome the enemy. You are stronger than any foe!

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore.  Psalm 125:2 (ESV)

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  1 John 4:4 (ESV)

The enemy is called an accuser of the brethren But he’s a defeated foe – defeated by the Blood of Jesus and the Word of testimony.

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.  Revelation 12:10-11 (ESV)

The enemy loves to accuse you by putting you down through the words of your spouse. Respond through God’s truth

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  Romans 8:1 (ESV)

Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself.  Romans 8:33 (NLT)

God Has promised to fulfil all His promises to you. Prophesy it until it comes to pass.

“What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”  Genesis 28:15 (NLT)

If you feel, God is taking too long, here’s another scripture to prophesy as He states we will have a quick victory!

“But recognize today that the Lord your God is the one who will cross over ahead of you like a devouring fire to destroy them. He will subdue them so that you will quickly conquer them and drive them out, just as the Lord has promised”.  Deuteronomy 9:3 (NLT)

So strengthen yourself in the Lord and fight for your family by throwing out the trespasser with the truth of God’s Word. Remember God’s Word never returns void.

“Don’t be afraid of the enemy! Remember the Lord, who is great and glorious, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes!”  Nehemiah 4:14b (NLT)

“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”  Isaiah 55:11 (NLT)
