Are you standing for the restoration of your marriage? A daily devotional that will offer encouragement from God’s Word as you stand for the restoration of your marriage.

Understanding God’s View

From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”  Matthew 16:21-23

I pray that you will see your problems through the eyes of the Lord. Are you seeking to follow God’s will for your marriage? Ask for His divine wisdom. Are you willing to pray and bind the enemy? Are you ready to wait?

God can see your marriage and your spouse through His perfect filter. He created both of you. He knows what tomorrow holds. He understands the heart and mind of your prodigal.

As I was divorcing my husband Bob, I cried and screamed at him about all that he was doing wrong. Meanwhile, the Lord worked behind the scenes, preparing to turn my storm into a rainbow. All in God’s perfect timing.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”  Isaiah 55:8-9

We just celebrated the resurrection of Jesus. Peter thought he knew the best plan for Jesus regarding going to Jerusalem. Peter had no idea what God’s ultimate purpose was for Jesus. What an example for us. We need to seek the Lord’s will in our prayer closet before we allow others to direct us onto a detour road.

Are you willing to pick up the cross and follow the Lord? Let’s continue to read the passage in Matthew 16:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life[f] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.”  Matthew 16:24-27

God’s perspective will not line up with the world’s way. I pray you will not listen to other people’s opinions but instead seek the Lord with new fervor and a tenacious spirit of perseverance, wanting only His will in your marriage.

Remember that Jesus is the only One who can change your circumstances as He rebuilds and restores your marriage. He is the only One who can touch and change your spouse’s heart.

Peter did not want Jesus to suffer and die on the cross. When Jesus told Him what was going to happen, Peter wanted to interfere in God’s plan and purpose. Jesus Christ had to sacrifice His life to pay the ultimate price, shedding His blood for all sinners by dying on the cross. That is when Jesus rebuked Peter and said:

“…Get behind me Satan. You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”  Matthew 16:23

God has a plan and purpose for your marriage. He can work all things out for His glory (Romans 8:28).

As you worship with your church today, ask the Lord to renew your walk with Him. Recommit your trust in His plan for your future.  Allow the Lord to show you His plan for your marriage, which may seem impossible from your visual standpoint today. Nothing is too hard for the Lord to do; remember, He defeated Satan on the cross!

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.  Romans 16:20

Are you going to look at your marriage from man’s view or God’s view?

God’s view is the only way!

God bless,
