Weapons of Our Warfare

We are entering a season where life can get busy. The holidays are filled with joy and family, but they can also create scenarios where there can be tension and strife. That is when we need to be on guard against the enemy and use the weapons the Lord gives us to defeat the enemy.

The first and most powerful weapon we need to use is prayer.  The enemy wants to keep us so busy we don’t take time to pray. This is a trick from the enemy. We need to know that it is important that we make time with the Lord in prayer a priority.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.  Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”  2 Chronicles 7:14-15

You may have loved ones who you are praying for. You may have prodigal relatives who need the Lord. As you stand in the gap for your loved ones, the Lord will continue to mature you in your faith. God will continue to deepen your walk with Him. He will also continue to give you wisdom and knowledge from on High to know how to pray for your family.  He has given us the Holy Spirit to empower each of us.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  Acts 1:8

This may not be a season of battle for your family, but it is still important to be prepared for when those battles come. If we are going to fight the spiritual battle that has come against our family, we need to be dressed properly. A good soldier always has his weapons ready.  The Armor of God shown to us in Ephesians is a powerful tool that can protect you from the strategies and schemes of the devil. Wear your armor and be ready for battle.

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests  Ephesians 6:10-18

There is power in the Name of Jesus. There is no other name like Jesus. When you feel depressed or overwhelmed by your circumstances, just call on Jesus. The powerful name of Jesus will defeat the enemy. You often hear when people are sick, if they will just call on the name of Jesus repeatedly, they will receive a peace that is beyond understanding.

There are times when the only thing a person facing a battle can pray is “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.” He hears those desperate prayers on behalf of a weary mom or dad who is praying for a child, or a person praying for a marriage that seems dead.

Call on the Name of Jesus!

“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.”  John 14:13-14

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.  Philippians 2:9-10

God bless,
