Restored and Redeemed

Has your marriage been restored? Restored & Redeemed is a devotional for those in a restored marriage.

What Is Your Gift to Jesus?

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

December is upon us. Ready or not, Christmas is coming! As Christmas approaches, many of us will be rushing around, buying gifts, and decorating our homes. We are baking cookies, breads, and candies for our family and friends. Our calendars are filled with special Christmas parties that “we must attend.” Do you go to one special Christmas cantata or pageant? Does your family have a tradition for decorating the outside lights, trimming your Christmas tree, and singing Christmas carols? If your marriage is newly restored, it is time to start making some new traditions.

I want to ask you a question. What gift are you giving Jesus? It can be easy to get consumed with other things and forget why we celebrate Christmas. This year may we make time to be with the Lord and give Him the gift He deserves. As we take time to know the Lord better, we will be more equipped to share Christ with others.

Read through Matthew chapter two. The Wise Men traveled thousands of miles to see the King of the Jews. They were looking for the baby that was born. They responded with excitement and joy when they saw the star, ready to worship the King and give Him gifts.

Imagine wrapping a very special gift for our Lord Jesus Christ and placing it under your Christmas tree. What do you think Jesus wants from you? As we prepare to celebrate Christmas, let’s make time to give our gift to the Lord.

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:9-11

The wise men gave several gifts. This is the essence of true worship – honoring Christ for who He is and being willing to give Him what is valuable to us. This year, let’s give the Lord the gift He deserves, our lives.

God bless,
